History History

1966 Established as “San-Abbott,” a joint venture between Sanyo Chemical Industries, Ltd. and Abbott USA.
1967 Succeeded in the creation and industrialization of DBU, the world’s first organic super strong base.
1970 Developed the U-CAT SA Series (DBU salts). Market development began for the products as urethane catalysts and epoxy curing accelerators.
1986 Overseas parent company changes to Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., and our company name was altered to San-Apro.
1998 Investigations began regarding technologies and markets for new products to replace DBU. Photo acid generator developed.
2003 The CPI-100P and 101A photo acid generators (for photocationic polymerization initiations) were introduced to the market. Efforts began to introduce these products to the can paint and optical modeling resin markets.
2007 The high-activity non-Sb CPI-200K product was developed and efforts began to introduce it into the marketplace.
2010 The highly i-line sensitive CPI-300 series was developed and entered the electronic materials market.
2016 The company celebrated its 50th anniversary. Sales of photo acid generators steadily increase, and the business progresses in its transition.
2017 Parent company changed to Evonik Industries AG.

In search of dreams         

2020 was a year when the world was hit by a great disaster called the coronavirus. Not only the food service and travel industry, but also the activities of many companies and schools have stagnated, and people's lifestyle have been subject to various restrictions. It can be said that society as a whole has suffered great damage.

What's good under such circumstances is the spread of telework. Until now, telework as a system existed in some companies, but the actual operation rate was low. I thought comprehensive use was still in the future but it became popular at once. And for that matter, I think we can see the vision that the once dream of "ubiquitous society", renamed as DX, will be realized in the not too distant future beyond telework .

By the way, how will work change, how will society change, and how will people's lives change in such DX? .. .. I come up with them in various perspectives but they will be endless. However, in order to realize a new society, new technologies that support it should be needed. In other words, the exchange of huge amounts of data to support the DX society and the hardware and software to process it are necessary. Are they enough resources on hand? Perhaps there will be a need to process unimaginable amounts of data fast and accurately. I am convinced that various innovations will be needed there.

Currently, San-Apro has created and sold photo acid generators. These photo acid generators are still used in semiconductor manufacturing and microfabrication, but I would like to introduce them for innovation support in a newer era. I believe that the future mission of San-Apro is to create, customize, produce, and supply compounds that meet the front-line user needs to enable dramatic innovation.

San-Apro is a fabless company that specializes in research and development of unique catalysts made by full use of organic synthesis technology and has no production plant. Since it is fabless, we believe that it is our major strength to respond to production scales and quantities according to customer needs.
Due to the coronavirus wreck since 2020, it is expected that the difficult situation will continue after 2021.
Even in such rapidly changing situation, we continue to help our customers propose / supply new products to the market.
We want to be a "Serendipity" that can share successful connections with our customers.
We will be a trigger that provides "light" and "passion" to those who visit our new website!

In 1966, San-Apro industrialized the organic super-strong base DBU® for the first time in the world, and developed its applications such as urethanization catalysts and epoxy curing accelerators as well as manufacturing intermediates for pharmaceutical raw materials. We have contributed to the development of a wide range of fields as a "special catalyst manufacturer". We have added a new product lineup of photo acid generators (PAG) since 2000, and are expanding our business domain in from heat to light triggered fields.
Based on the seeds of super-strong bases and super-strong acids, we have flexibly responded to changes of the times with a policy of customization based on customer needs. Our foundation (tradition) is a spitiy of "Try It First."
Recently, with the spread of remote work due to the new corona infection, we assume that IoT will further develop. In the future, in order to develop products that respond to various changes, not only the in-company organization but also customers, suppliers, production contractors, university, and specialized institutions, etc. will work together with the challenge spirit of "Try It First". We want to propose new value (product) without fear of failure.
