ES-1B

i-line / h-line Highly sensitive sulfonium salt type photoacid generator. It has better acid generation rate and solubility in various organic compounds than the CPI-400 series.

Although it is a non-Sb type because it uses borate anion, it has the same acid strength as the SbF6 anion product and exhibits high cationically polymerizable properties. In addition, the cured product is excellent in low metal corrosiveness.

Q&A

What is the absorption wavelength?
It has the same absorption spectrum as the CPI-400 series, with an i-line (365 nm) of about 9600 [M-1 cm-1] in molar extinction coefficient and an h-line (405 nm) of 1380 [M-1 cm-1]. There is some absorption.
There is almost no absorption in the g-line (436 nm).
What is the difference compared to the CPI-400 series?
By controlling the substituent of the cationic skeleton, it has better solubility in organic solvents than the CPI-400 series.
Furthermore, it has excellent photosensitivity and shows higher acid generation efficiency than the CPI-400 series.
What are the characteristics of the generated acid [HB(C6F5)4]?
It has high acid strength and reactivity equivalent to HSbF6. In addition, since it is resistant to hydrolysis and does not contain hydrofluoric acid, it is possible to prevent corrosion of surrounding metal parts.
Are there types with different generated acids?
We have a track record of developing (1) triflic olometan sulphonate, (2) PF3(C2F5)3 salt, and (3) FG (special anion) salt. If you have any other anions you are interested in, please feel free to contact us.
How much should I add?
Add about 0.5 to 2 wt% to the resin, depending on the application and film thickness.
What film thickness is suitable?
Although it depends on the application and the amount of addition, a thin film of 10 μm or less, which is less affected by the transmittance, is suitable.
In the case of a thick film of 100 μm or more, the type with a small molar extinction coefficient (CPI-100, 200 series, etc.) has high light transmittance in the depth direction and can generate acid to the deep part. The CPI-300 series is suitable for medium film thicknesses of about 50 μm.
